DOT SAP Provider for FAA Employees

As a DOT-mandated safety-sensitive FAA employee you keep the skies safe by avoiding drugs and alcohol on the job. However, employees who violate the FAA’s drug and alcohol testing regulations by refusing to take a test, using alcohol while on-duty or pre-duty, or eight hours before an incident, will be immediately removed from their safety-sensitive functions. To get back to work they must meet with a DOT-qualified SAP and begin the return-to-duty process. If you find yourself needing a DOT SAP provider so you can begin this process, you can rely on SAP Referral Services. We connect employees with DOT-qualified SAPs across the country.

Are You a FAA Employee Who Failed A Drug/Alcohol Test?

Failing or refusing a drug and/or alcohol test means you must comply with a return-to-duty process recommended by a DOT-qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). After an initial evaluation, the SAP recommends treatment and/or education to address your substance use. The SAP follows your progress to determine if you successfully complied with the recommendations. If you are successful, you’ll be approved to take a return-to-duty test under observation.

When you return to work, you’ll undergo numerous follow-up drug and/or alcohol tests as directed by the SAP. If you have a FAA part 67 medical certificate and wish to return to the duties requiring this certificate you must follow the requirements given by your Aviation Medical Examiner or Regional Flight Surgeon and receive an airman medical certificate issued by the Federal Air Surgeon after the date of your violation.
