Tired of Your Calls to SAPs Going Unanswered? Reach out to SRS Today!

It can be frustrating to find a Substance Abuse Professional on your own. Between leaving messages, calling to see if SAPs are still qualified, and waiting for appointments, it seems like the work will never get done. But it doesn’t have to be impossible. In fact, it can be easy to find a DOT qualified SAP. With SAP Referral Services, we can typically schedule you with a DOT qualified SAP in your area within 72 hours.

What is the Return to Duty Process Like?

If you failed or refused to take a drug and/or alcohol test and you were removed from your safety sensitive duties, you now have to start the return to duty process. This process starts with a face-to-face substance abuse evaluation by a DOT qualified SAP. After the evaluation the SAP will recommend treatment and/or education depending on the outcome of the evaluation. Then, they’ll send a report to your employer about the recommendation.

Next, they’ll monitor your progress with the program they have laid out for you. Finally, they’ll conduct a follow-up evaluation to confirm that you have followed their plan successfully. If they determine you have successfully complied, they’ll refer you to submit to a return to duty drug and/or alcohol test. Unfortunately, if it’s positive, you’ll have a new violation and have to start over with another recommended treatment plan. If the test is negative you will be eligible to return to safety sensitive duties.
