SRS simplifies the process in assisting your client companies in locating SAPs and SAEs throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam and Canada. SRS provides a referral letter to share with your client companies that reiterates the employer’s responsibilities per DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 Subpart O or the NRC Regulation 10 CFR Part 26 and restates that they can use a service agent/third party to provide services. This letter will prompt the client company to contact SRS when they have an employee or applicant who violates a DOT, NRC or company workplace drug or alcohol regulation thus providing added value service to your clients at no expense.
When a client company’s representative contacts SRS, SRS shares information on the substance abuse program, reviews the process involved in referring an employee or applicant and provides a violation letter with instructions for its use.

When a DOT or Non-DOT mandated employee contacts SRS, SAP Referral Services’ affiliate Substance Abuse Professionals (SAPs) provide the following services:
- Initial face to face substance abuse evaluation
- Specific treatment or education recommendations
- Assistance in connecting to the recommended treatment or education
- Confirmation of compliance to treatment or education through return-to-duty
- Follow-up face to face substance abuse evaluation
- Two compliant reports
- Recommendations to submit to a return-to-duty test
- Recommendations for aftercare (if applicable)
- Recommendations for follow-up testing
When working with an NRC regulated employee, the services provided by SRS follow the NRC outlined process; are facilitated by an affiliate Substance Abuse Expert and include:
- Face to face substance abuse evaluation
- Recommendations for treatment or education (if applicable)
- Assistance in connecting to the recommended treatment or education
- Compliance monitoring through follow-up evaluation
- NRC compliant reports
- Follow-up face-to-face evaluation (if applicable)
- Recommendations for return-to-duty testing and aftercare (if applicable)

For client companies that have experienced a traumatic workplace incident, SRS can offer Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) services. By dispatching an on-site or virtual clinical professional the impact of the event can be mitigated, and the recovery process for employee’s can be accelerated.
