Are You an Employee Looking for a SAP Provider in Florida? SRS Can Help!

As a safety-sensitive, DOT mandated employee you will be required to take drug and/or alcohol tests. If you live in Florida (or anywhere nationwide) and are an employee/applicant in a safety-sensitive position you’ll need to become familiar with the DOT drug and alcohol testing rules and regulations.

If you were involved in a type of accident that is identified in the DOT’ guidelines as a mandated employee in Florida, you will be tested for drug and/or alcohol use after the accident. Additionally, employers must give random drug and/or alcohol test to current employees. If you are applying to a safety-sensitive DOT position you’ll have to complete a drug and alcohol test in order to be cleared for duty. If, during any of the above situations, you failed a drug and/or alcohol test you will be required to complete a Substance Abuse Program under the guidance of a qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). If you are looking for a SAP provider in Florida (or anywhere nationwide), SRS can help.

When Should I Find a SAP Provider in Florida?

The DOT cares about the safety of its employees, the public and those who utilize DOT services. Their commitment to safety ensures that employees are able to safely operate machinery and complete their jobs. If a DOT mandated employee fails a drug or alcohol screening, they will be removed from duty and be required to participate in a SAP Program in order to be considered for return to duty.

What Does a SAP Provider Do?

A SAP provider will perform a face-to-face evaluation and suggest a treatment or educational program. It is up to the employee to follow the steps outlined by their SAP. Once they comply with the recommended education or treatment they will return to their SAP for a follow-up evaluation. If the SAP’s evaluation suggests that you are ready to return to a DOT safety-sensitive position you will be required to complete a return to duty drug and/or alcohol test. Once you have completed a SAP program, and passed the return to duty test, the SAP can sign off on your return to a safety-sensitive role. It is up to the employee/applicant’s employer to place or reinstate you into a safety sensitive position.

With the SRS FastTrack Enrollment Program, you can be connected with a DOT qualified SAP near you and schedule an initial evaluation typically within 72 business hours. The FastTrack Enrollment Program includes: scheduling of the initial evaluation, two face-to-face substance abuse evaluations with a DOT qualified SAP, recommendations for education or treatment, two SAP reports (initial and follow-up) and recommendations for submitting to a return-to-duty test.
