DOT Mandates PHMSA Employees – Know the DOT Drug Testing Rules
DOT mandated PHMSA employees who perform safety-sensitive duties are required to undergo drug/alcohol testing. If DOT mandated PHMSA employees fail a drug and/or alcohol test they are required to be referred to a SAP provider in their area. Luckily, SRS is partnered with SAP providers nationwide and can schedule PHMSA employees with a qualified SAP in their area. If you are a PHMSA employee in need of a SAP provider SRS can help.
DOT Mandated PHMSA Employees’ Drug Testing Rules
The DOT drug testing rules require all PHMSA employees who fail a drug and/or alcohol test to be removed from their safety-sensitive position until successfully completing the return-to-duty process. DOT mandated PHMSA employees, along with all other modes of DOT mandated employees, must complete drug and/or alcohol testing. Testing may be required at random, upon pre-employment and/or post-accident. It is important for PHMSA employees to make an appointment quickly with a qualified SAP professional in order to get back to work.
When you choose SRS, you will be scheduled with a qualified SAP in your area. The SAP will perform an initial evaluation and make recommendations for treatment and/or education. They will also conclude if you are ready to submit to a return-to-duty drug and/or alcohol test. Your SAP is the only person who can recommend that you are fit to return to your safety-sensitive position.
