SRS - Substance Abuse Professional Referral Services

If you have one of the following licenses you may qualify to become an SRS SAP of SAE Affiliate Provider:

a licensed Physician (Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy)
a licensed or certified Social Worker
a licensed or certified Marriage and Family Therapist
a licensed or certified Psychologist
a licensed or certified Employee Assistance Professional
a Drug and Alcohol Counselor certified by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors Certification Commission(NAADAC), by the International Certification Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and other Drug Abuse (ICRC) or by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC)

Along with the above credentials to perform DOT or NRC evaluations you must be knowledgeable about and have clinical experience:

With diagnosis and treatment of alcohol and controlled substance-related disorders
With SAP or SAE functions as they relate to employer interests in safety-sensitive duties
With regulation 49 CFR Part 40 or 10 CFR Part 26 and the DOT or NRC agencies drug and alcohol testing rules
With key DOT or NRC drug testing requirements, including collections, laboratory testing, MRO review, and problems in drug testing
With key DOT or NRC alcohol testing requirements, including the testing process, the role of BAT's and STT's and problems in alcohol tests
SAP and SAE qualifications and prohibitions
With evaluations, referrals for education and/or treatment, follow-up evaluations and continuing care treatment
With recommendations for the follow-up testing plan
With SAP or SAE consultations with employers, MROs and substance abuse treatment providers
With requirements for reporting, maintaining confidentiality and record keeping
With issues which SAP's or SAE's confront in carrying out their duties under the program
You must retain current DOT or NRC Qualification Training and Testing certificates. You must also, complete and provide documentation every three years of 12 hours of continuing education, relevant to performing DOT SAP or NRC SAE functions.

If you meet one of the above licensure requirements, however, you have no knowledge of the DOT or NRC regulations, you may still qualify to receive DWI/DUI and Non-Safety-Sensitive Affiliate opportunities.
